Watch: Barinder Sran shines on debut

It would be a memorable match for left-arm fast bowler Barinder Sran as he ended with figures of 3/56. Everyone was excited about Barinder Sran who was a surprise pick by the Indian selectors for this series. He showed glimpses of his talent in the tour games which India played against WACA XI. He was impressive in the preparatory games and his effectiveness with the ball was noticeable.

Barinder Sran opened the bowling for India. He got his maiden international wicket after he removed the dangerous Aaron Finch in just his second over of the spell. In the next over, he made it two in two overs after he got better of David Warner.

Sran landed a full wide delivery which Aaron Finch hit straight back to him. Later, David Warner was caught by Virat Kohli at mid-off after he couldn’t connect a wild hit. He was pumped up and gave a fierce send off to Warner.

Sran showed off his range of deliveries with swift bouncers and back-of-the-hand slower balls. The third and the last wicket came in the form of Steve Smith whom he dismissed at 149 and denied him his 150. It was a soft dismissal as Smith just lobbed a full delivery into the hands of Virat Kohli at short cover.

Earlier in the day, it was a proud moment for the Indian fast bowler, who was given the India cap by Indian skipper MS Dhoni after the pre-match practice session.

The match also saw Rohit Sharma create a few records – Records Rohit Sharma created with his unbeaten 171
