Watch: Brett Lee bowls a dramatic last over: The final of the 2014/2015 Big Bash League was a sensational game to watch and held on to the excitement till the very end.
Sydney Sixers faced Perth Scorchers in finals of the Big Bash League 2015. The match itself was very intensely fought contest between both the teams.
Batting first, Sydney Sixers posted a respectable 147 run target to chase for Perth Scorchers. The openers had laid the platform for the rest of the batsmen to come and finish the game. However, Brett Lee’s magnificent career was not meant to end in such an uninspiring one sided game.
The match turned around in the 19th over when Nathan Lyon picked two quick wickets. With only 8 required off 6 balls, Brett Lee was handed the ball to bowl the last over of the final.
The crowd was nervous, so was the batsman. Brett ran in to bowl the first delivery. An attempted Yorker ended-up being a full toss and Michael Carberry smartly scooped it in the fine leg region for a boundary.
Lee changed his bowling angle and delivered a fuller ball which Carberry hit towards deep square leg for a couple. The third ball was miss hit by Carberry but, he managed to steal a single. The match looked done as only 1 run was needed off 3 balls.
But, Brett Lee caused a major turnaround off his fourth delivery. He clean bowled Henriques with an perfect Yorker. The next batsman, SM Whiteman, was also beaten by Brett Lee’s pace and was also clean bowled off the fifth delivery. The game was even now as only 1 run was required off the last ball of the match.
Bret Lee was pumped up after the 2nd wicket in the over. He was on a hat-trick and had the chance to take the match to the super over. All the fielders were fielding inside the circle. Next batsman, Yasir Arafat came in as Brett Lee was ready to bowl the last and the deciding ball of the match.
However, things didn’t end the way Sixers fans expected. Arafat somehow manages to hit the last ball towards the mid-on fielder, who was also inside the circle. The throw was quick and accurate but, the fielder failed to grasp it on time as Arafat finished the last run required to win the final of the Big Bash League 2015. The jubilant Scorchers celebrated in a team hurdle.
Brett Lee ends his illustrious playing career with a highly dramatic final over.
