Corey Anderson has always been a great athlete. The Kiwi all-rounder has been the mainstay of the New Zealand batting for the last couple of years. His explosive batting adds firepower to the lineup while his left arm seam bowling allows the Kiwis to play an additional batsman or bowler.
The current Test match between Australia and New Zealand at Wellington is nearing its eventual conclusion. With the Kiwis trailing by 201 runs and just six wickets and two days of play remaining, Corey Anderson gave one and all something to cheer for with an amazing catch off his own bowling to dismiss Nathan Lyon. Anderson, who was looking to dislodge the partnership between Adam Voges and Nathan Lyon, pulled off a spectacular impulse catch.
While Corey Anderson’s wicket failed to turn the match in favour of his side, his catch gave the New Zealand faithful something to smile about. The situation does not look very good for the hosts as they face the uneasy prospect of an innings defeat. The Kiwis failed miserably in the first innings as they were blasted out for a paltry 183. To their horror, the Aussies piled on the runs, with Adam Voges in particular, smashing his second ever double century. Usman Khawaja and Steve Smith too came goo as they made useful contributions of 140 and 71 respectively. In reply, the Kiwis will be expecting to bounce back on day 4. Brendon McCullum’s swansong Test at the Wellington Oval has been well and truly spoilt courtesy of some ruthless batting and bowling performances.
