Former Indian all-rounder and a popular face in the commentary box, Ravi Shastri has said some really unique things during his commentary career and “Like a tracer bullet” is one such in the list of his trademarks.
Shastri who is currently a part of the commentary crew for the Test series between India and England challenged his fellow commentators to say “like a tracer bullet” as well as he does. The former greats took up the challenge but Shastri wasn’t impressed with most of them and later said the words in his own unique style.
Just after the challenge in the commentary box, former greats Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid also took up the Tracer Bullet Challenge. While Sachin was restraint, as usual, the generally calm Rahul Dravid was very animated and was perhaps the best among the three taking up the challenge. Laxman was the last among the trio to take up the challenge.
Following the footsteps of commentators and former greats, Twitteratti also took up Ravi Shastri’s challenge but fared quite poorly.
While the tracer bullet challenged has created quite a sensation within a blink of an eye, India didn’t quite consolidate on their position of strength and folded out for 204 in their 2nd essay in the 4th day morning, giving England 405 to chase in the fourth innings. At the end of tea England didn’t lose a wicket and though the English openers, Alastair Cook and Haseeb Hameed didn’t score freely but it was enough for them to the Indians at bay. By the end of the day’s play, India picked a couple of wickets and will look to come back strong tomorrow.
