Mohammad Amir has made a superb comeback to cricket after serving a 5-year ban. His consistent performances in Pakistan’s domestic cricket got him a contract with the Chittagong Vikings in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League. Amir has consistently picked up wickets and been the strike bowler for his team. Against the Dhaka Dynamites, he was promoted to number 6 in the batting lineup and faced a challenge from his countryman Yasir Shah with his team already being in troubled waters at 50/4 from 8.3 overs.
The leg-spinner Yasir Shah has had a marvelous start to his Test career, however, is not a regular member of Pakistan’s ODI and T20I side. He has taken this opportunity to play in the BPL and must be looking to impress the Pakistan selectors ahead of the T20I World Cup in 2016. He got a chance to have a crack at Amir and he thoroughly enjoyed it.
Shah flighted one wide outside off stump inviting Amir to go for an expansive drive which the left-hander did only to hear the dreaded sound of the timber behind him. The ball hit the inside edge of his bat and crashed into the off-stump. The bowler certainly seemed pretty happy and had a huge smile as opposed to Amir who seemed understandably dejected about getting out in this manner.
The Chittagong team had a miserable day being eventually bowled out for 92. In reply, the Dynamites overhauled the target sparring 17 balls and losing only 4 wickets. The BPL has many international stars who will keep the fans in Bangladesh entertained in the coming weeks.
