The first Test victory was a couple of steps away from the Pakistan team. Rahat Ali and Yasir Shah had wrapped up the top and middle order respectively and it was up to the comeback man Mohammad Amir to clean up the tail and seal the victory. The ball was reverse swinging and he was bowling at some pace.

Stuart Broad who has a good reputation as a batsman was the no.9 for England and the team would have expected him to last longer and frustrate the Pakistan bowlers who were looking to finish things off in a jiffy. Broad’s stay lasted just two balls. After negotiating the first one, he was facing Amir who had decorated the field around for the short ball. There was a catching fielder, one in the deep and that was definitely playing on the English pacer’s mind.

But that was just a hoax. The ball was full and fast. He stood where he was expecting the bouncer. It came into the batsman towards his middle and leg-stump. Broad’s feet were absolutely frozen as he tried to get bat to ball. It proved to be too good for him and shattered his stumps. Amir was exuberant. He loved it and went for the animated celebration with his arms spread, ready to take off.

He ran to his teammates and hugged them like a kid. The celebration clearly depicted how much it meant to him and his team. This was Amir’s second wicket in the game after he had skipper Alastair Cook in the first. He got another wicket, the last of the game when he bowled Jake Ball to close the game for his team. Pakistan beat England by 75 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
