Watch: Rishabh Pant slams the fastest fifty in U-19 internationals

Rishabh Pant looked unstoppable during India U19’s recent clash with Nepa U19. He hit a whirlwind knock of 78 off just 24 balls to guide India to a demolishing 7 wicket victory.

Chasing a paltry 169 runs to win, Rishabh Pant opened the innings with skipper Ishan Kishan and did most of the job by themselves. The left-handed opener added 124 runs for the first wicket with captain Ishan Kishan (52 from 40 balls) in just 9.1 overs leaving the Nepal team in tatters.

Kishan was little conservative from one end but Pant had gone haywire from the other end. The left-hander thoughts looked clear about Nepal’s bowling attack after he slogged a length ball across the line for a boundary to start with. Pant kept hitting the Nepal bowler with the same intensity and brought up his fifty within 6 overs.  He was at 43 when he took the strike that over and hit two consecutive fours to bring up the fastest U-19 international fifty. He hit another off the following delivery to celebrate it. The left-hander unfurled his shots and smashed five sixes and nine boundaries during his record-breaking knock. The scorecard read mostly in fours and sixes during his stay at the crease.

It appeared that he was racing towards breaking record for the fastest hundred too. However, the aggression got better of the India opener he failed to hit a flighted delivery and was out for a wonderful 78 from just 24 balls. The match ended soon with Sarfraz Khan hitting a six for the winning runs.

Rishabh was rewarded for his brilliant effort with the ‘Man of the Match’ award. The Indian teenagers under the helm of India legend Rahul Dravid appear to be a bunch of dominants and have already qualified to the quarterfinals win an all-win record currently.
