Watch: Shahid Afridi at his lethal best, pummels Harbhajan for 4 sixes: He’s nicknamed Boom Boom by his devout Pakistani fans for a reason! He’s the man who on his given day can mercilessly massacre even the stiffest bowling units and enthrall one and all with his brute hitting.. Yes he is Shahid Khan Afridi.

Here is a classic example of how dangerous he can prove to be with a bat in hand even in the longest form of the game. It so happened in a Test match against arch rivals India in January 2006 in Lahore. Pakistan were batting at 578 for 5 with Afridi batting on 63 off 63 balls. Indian off spinner Harbhajan came to bowl. He was welcomed with a down the track six which made the ball fall seemingly 10 rows back, in the stands. The crowd erupted.

The next ball was delivered and it produced the same result but this time the ball got bludgeoned to the stands on the leg side for a maximum.

In a desperate attempt to stop the savage onslaught Harbhajan came over the wicket, but it proved to be futile as Afridi swept it away majestically for a humongous six that made the crowd go berserk. Harbhajan took a lot of time to settle down and refresh himself for the next delivery. Some changes were made in the field and the next ball was bowled. And Afridi in his most murderous mood, thwacked the ball for another colossal six and the crowd jumped with uncontrollable ecstasy at the exhibition of extraordinary batsmanship by Lala.

It was an over that no passionate Pakistani fan would forget. At the same time, such a situation is a real low for the bowler; where most of his strategies, attempts to keep the batsman down are foiled and he is rather helpless against the supremacy or power-hitting abilities of the batsman.
