Although Virat Kohli didn’t have much say in proceedings as Bangladesh almost toppled the Indians at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. However, Bangalore did eventually get to see their skipper in action along the boundary ropes from time to time. During the Bangladesh batting innings, Virat Kohli, who also happens to be the skipper of the Royal Challengers Bangalore made sure that his humility was projected for all of Bangalore to see.
While fielding on the boundary ropes, the crowd behind Kohli began the chant many are familiar with. “Kohli, Kohli’ was the name on each of the fan’s lips as he went down to the field by the boundary. The Indian Test skipper turned towards the crowd, pointed at that part of his jersey that said India on it and urged the crowd to chant ‘India, India’ instead of ‘Kohli, Kohli’. While this gesture wasn’t noticed during the match, twitter ensured that it was there for all to see.

The match, however, was a different story. It was something no one had ever seen. It was a spectacle, perhaps the first one in international cricket to take place in Bangalore. Having lost the toss and batted first, the Indians managed just 146 in the 20 overs. The match hung on a knife-edge when Bangladesh came to bat courtesy of some big-hitting from the Bangladeshi batsmen. Each and every person in the stadium believed that the Indians had thrown victory out the window when MS Dhoni handed the ball to Hardik Panday.
The latter held his nerve to eventually help the Indians secure a much-needed win. The one-run win margin sees India sit pretty at second in the points table behind New Zealand while qualification to the semifinals beckons the men in blue.
