Devon Conway has only played 3 ODIs and 14 T20Is for New Zealand till now. But he has already gained the reputation of being a batsman who can rip apart any bowling attack on his day. And, his strike rate of 151.12 in the T20I format of the game confirms the same.

Conway has now opened up on batting alongside Tom Latham. Conway stated that both himself and Latham are left-handed batsmen and added that it is a good opportunity for him to wield the willow alongside Latham. Conway also opined that Latham is a cricketer who knows the game inside out.

Conway further heaped praise on Latham and revealed that he has learnt from Latham how to be disciplined and improve his shot selection. Conway even said that just being at the other end when Latham plays is an exciting prospect.

“Good opportunity to bat with him [Latham] out in the middle. Fortunately, we are both left-handers, so I could just feed off a couple of things that he was doing. He is very experienced, knows his game inside out. Just watching how he goes about things, not only in today’s game but in training and his discipline around, his shot selection, the way he plays his game, it’s pretty awesome to learn from. Just to be there at the other end was pretty exciting and good learnings throughout the day,” said Conway as quoted by Cricinfo.

Devon Conway opens up on his experience of batting in front of Kane Williamson

Devon Conway further stated that batting in front of the legendary Kane Williamson is intimidating, and added that the Kiwi skipper is one of the best cricketers in the world today. Conway concluded by stating that he hopes to also bat alongside veteran New Zealand batsman Ross Taylor.

“You’ve got Kane Williamson there at gully watching you bat. That’s pretty intimidating, one of the best guys watching you go about your business. Then also fronting up and facing guys like Tim Southee, who have been there for a long time. I didn’t get the opportunity to bat with Ross Taylor today, which was a bit unfortunate, but hopefully one day I’ll get that chance,” concluded Conway.
