Misbah-ul-Haq, who recently resigned as the Head Coach of the Pakistan cricket team has stated that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will always look for scapegoats whenever the team loses a series.

Adding that the only thing that people in Pakistan cricket focus is the result, Misbah-ul-Haq revealed that nobody focuses on the players and honing their skills.

The 47-year-old also added that even though the coaches and the players might be replaced, the problem in Pakistan cricket will not be solved.

“In Pakistan, we only focus on one thing and that is the result. We don’t go beyond that and focus on things like our players and their skill development. After losing a match or series we look for someone as a scapegoat to save face.

Nothing will change if we continue with this cosmetic surgery. You can change the coaches and players but deep down the problems will remain the same,” said Misbah-ul-Haq as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

First you made changes and then you make a U-turn: Misbah-ul-Haq

Misbah-ul-Haq also added that the Pakistan selection committee will make some changes to the side, and will then take a U-Turn on their own decision and will bring back the excluded players into the Pakistan squad once again.

“First you made changes to the team but 10 days later you took a U-turn and brought the excluded players back in the fold,” concluded Misbah-ul-Haq.

Misbah-ul-Haq featured in 75 Tests, 162 ODIs, and 39 T20Is for the Pakistan side. While he scored 5222 runs in the whites, Misbah plundered 5122 runs in the ODI format of the game. In T20I cricket, the right-handed batsman scored 788 runs at an average of 37.52.

Misbah-ul-Haq played his last international match for the Pakistan side in May 2017, against the West Indies outfit. Meanwhile, the Pakistan side will be gearing up for their opening match of the 2021 T20 World Cup against arch-rivals India, which will be held on 24th October 2021 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
