Indian skipper Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma became parents to a baby girl on January 11, 2021. Both Virat and Anushka had taken a leave from their hectic work life as they welcomed the little angel in their lives. While Virat skipped the last three matches of the four-match Test series against Australia, Anushka is on a sabbatical from the movies for quite a long time.

A few days after the birth of their daughter, the Bollywood diva took to her official Instagram handle to announce that they have named their daughter ‘Vamika’. Ever since her birth, Vamika has caused a buzz on social media. The little girl already has thousands of fan pages named after her on social media while the fans are quite eager to get a glimpse of Virat and Anushka’s daughter.

However, the couple has always maintained that they will not hamper the privacy of their child by introducing her to social media. Virat echoed the same sentiments during an interactive session on his Instagram handle. On May 29, Kohli managed to spring a surprise for all his fans as he hosted a Question and Answer (Q & A) session on the photo-sharing platform.

Vamika is another name for Goddess Durga: Virat Kohli

During the one-off interaction with the fans, the Indian skipper came across a question where he was asked the meaning of the name of his daughter while the fan also requested him to show a glimpse of his little angel. Taking cognizance of the query, Virat explained that Vamika is another name for Hindu Goddess Durga.

The 32-year-old added that both he and Anushka have unanimously decided to not expose their child to social media. “Vamika is another name for Goddess Durga. No, we have decided as a couple to not expose our child to social media before she has an understanding of what social media is and can make her own choice.” Kohli said in his response.

Earlier in the year, Virat and Anushka shared a note with paparazzi and media houses where they requested them to not pap their daughter and respect her privacy. “While we will always ensure that you get all the content you need featuring us, we would request you to kindly not take or carry any content that has our child. We know that you will understand where we are coming from and we thank you for the same,” the couple said in a statement.
