Rishi Dhawan is the latest entrant to this club, he was seen wearing headgear during an IPL 2022 match against the Chennai Super Kings on 25th April, Monday. Punjab Kings had also shared a video of him wearing the headgear during one of their practice session.

3. Deandra Dottin in Women’s World Cup 2017

Several titanium plates and screws were used to repair the damage done to her face, she did not completely recover but was still a vital member of the team during the 2017 Women’s World Cup. She was seen wearing a headgear throughout the tournament.

2. Andrew Ellis while playing for Canterbury

While representing Canterbury, Ellis was hit on his head by Auckland’s Jeet Raval and was taken off the field after suffering a major injury. The ball struck his head and bounced off to go for a six. He was then replaced by a concussion substitute, but he did return to finish the game in the end. In Canterbury’s next season, he was seen wearing a helmet to avoid what had happened to him a year before.

The Otago Volts cricketer Warren Barnes was the first one to set the trend when he, along with Rob Walters designed a protective gear for the bowlers to wear. Barnes experimented with it during a Super Smash T20 championship match against the Northern Knights in 2017.
