Former India cricketer K. Srikkanth openly criticized the team selection for Asia Cup 2025.
He questioned the inclusion of Harshit Rana, calling out his poor IPL stats and high economy rate of over 10 runs per over.
Srikkanth shared his views on his YouTube channel after the official Asia Cup squad was announced.
The main debate revolves around the selection of Harshit Rana and Shivam Dube, and the exclusion of Washington Sundar, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Shreyas Iyer.
Srikkanth felt the selectors ignored consistent performers like Sundar, who could balance both batting and bowling, while picking players with weak records.
He argued that if India needed a reliable all-round option at No. 6 or 8, Washington Sundar was a better choice than part-timers like Tilak Varma, Abhishek Sharma, or Shivam Dube.
Fans and veterans also expressed anger over the non-selection of Jaiswal and Iyer, while some even slammed Gautam Gambhir for choosing “the worst player with the worst stats.”
