A striking news has come to the surface about the story behind the Indian legend, Sachin Tendulkar's retirement, years after his retirement. BCCI had once thought of replacing the legendary batter.
Former chief selector Sandeep Patil revealed that the selection panel had a serious discussion about the future of the team. The idea was to start planning for the next generation of players.
Patil once asked Tendulkar, “What are your plans?” Tendulkar replied, puzzled, “Why?” Patil explained that the committee was searching for a replacement. The news left Tendulkar stunned. He called Patil again, double-checking, “Are you serious?” Patil confirmed, “Yes.”
Selectors believed that India was planning to move towards younger players and invest in them to shape India's future team because, as time goes on, the format needed quicker, better, and fitter players.
Sachin played his last ever match for Team India in 2013, bidding an emotional farewell to International cricket. He finished his career with many records, but the only record that might not get recreated will be his 100 International centuries.
Although Sachin retired from cricket a long time ago, his record of 100 International centuries and a few others as well will still be unmatched till today.
