Papua New Guinea’s Kiplin Doriga, who represented his country in two T20 World Cups (2021 & 2024), has been convicted in a robbery case.

The Magistrate’s Court declared the charges too serious and referred the case to the Royal Court, which later rejected his bail and sentenced him.

The robbery took place on August 25 in the St. Heliers area, causing a stir in the international cricket community.

Following the court’s decision, Doriga was immediately taken into police custody and sent to prison.

International cricket career

Doriga has played 97 international matches for Papua New Guinea, scoring 730 runs in 39 ODIs and 359 runs in 43 T20Is.

Wicketkeeping record

Apart from batting, he contributed as a wicketkeeper with 49 catches and 11 stumpings in his career.
