Australia won the first Ashes Test in Perth, but fans are waiting to know if Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood will return for the Brisbane Test.
Head coach Andrew McDonald said Cummins’ recovery is “nearing completion,” and a final call will be taken right before the second Test.
Cummins was ruled out of the Perth Test due to a lumbar back stress injury, with Steve Smith leading the team in his absence.
McDonald confirmed that Hazlewood is not out of the entire Ashes series and may return later, depending on his hamstring recovery.
Cummins was supposed to bowl in the nets on Day 4 in Perth, but the early finish and travel pushed his practice session to Brisbane.
Debutant Brendan Doggett impressed with five wickets, while Scott Boland had a tough outing. Australia will now decide if the seniors return for Brisbane.
