Sir Don Bradman’s iconic baggy green cap fetched a record AUD 460,000 (approx. ₹2.9 crore) at an Australia Day auction on the Gold Coast.
The cap was worn by Bradman during the 1947–48 Test series against India, his final Test series on Australian soil.
Bradman later gifted the cap to Indian all-rounder Sriranga Vasudev Sohoni, whose family preserved it in India for nearly 75 years.
As per Sohoni’s last wish, the historic cap was returned to Australia, leading to its eventual auction.
The names of both Bradman and Sohoni are engraved inside the cap, adding to its historical and emotional value.
The record-breaking sale once again highlighted Bradman’s enduring legacy, with the legend finishing his career with a Test average of 99.94.
