The ICC ODI World Cup 2027 is set to bring a fresh twist, with new rules and a bigger format making it more exciting than ever

This time, 14 teams will compete in the tournament, increasing the competition and making every match more intense than before

Teams will be divided into two groups of seven, where every match will be crucial as only the top teams move into the Super Six stage

Boundary catches are stricter now, a fielder can touch the ball only once while airborne and must land inside the boundary. Also, tied matches will be decided by unlimited Super Overs until a winner is found

Teams must start the next over within 60 seconds or face a 5-run penalty after repeated delays. Two new balls will be used till 34 overs, and teams must pick one ball to finish the innings. Teams must also pre-select five concussion substitutes before the match

Matches will be played across South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia, adding unique conditions to the tournament
