6 Emails, Did Andy Pycroft apologize? What really happened in the closed-door meeting of IND VS PAK

The issue began during the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup 2025 when captains Suryakumar Yadav and Salman Agha did not shake hands at the toss.

On September 15, PCB sent its first email to the ICC accusing match referee Andy Pycroft of violating the code of conduct by not ensuring the handshake.

ICC replied that Pycroft acted as per ACC instructions (not to shake hands during toss) and did not violate the code.

PCB was not satisfied and demanded Pycroft’s removal from officiating Pakistan’s matches, even threatening to withdraw from the tournament.

ICC rejected PCB’s demand, clarifying that officials cannot be replaced based on team complaints.

PCB sent another email, this time alleging violations during and after the match as well, keeping the controversy alive.

Pycroft later called a meeting with Pakistan captain Salman Agha, manager Naveed Cheema, and coach Mike Hesson to clear misunderstandings.

While PCB claimed Pycroft apologized, sources clarified he did not apologize, as he was not at fault.

A video of the meeting surfaced, but with muted audio, fueling speculation about what was said inside.

Despite six emails and the uproar, the only outcome was a 1-hour delayed start to the Pakistan vs UAE match; Pycroft continued as match referee without any changes.
