South Africa have added fast bowler Lungi Ngidi to their squad ahead of the second Test in Guwahati as they look to strengthen their pace attack.
Kagiso Rabada missed the Kolkata Test due to a rib injury, and his recovery remains uncertain. With doubts over his availability, SA turned to Ngidi.
Lungi Ngidi has 58 wickets in 20 Tests. Although he hasn’t played much red-ball cricket recently, his experience adds depth to South Africa’s pace unit.
South Africa are ahead 1–0 after a historic 30-run win in Kolkata, their first Test win in India since 2010. Guwahati will now host its first-ever Test match.
Shubman Gill is cleared to travel but remains doubtful. India may look at Sai Sudharsan, Devdutt Padikkal, or even Nitish Kumar Reddy as alternatives.
Axar Patel struggled in Kolkata, while Washington Sundar impressed with the bat. India must find the right balance to stay alive in the series.
