Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss the ODI series against South Africa starting November 30, as he needs more than a month to be fully match-fit.
Iyer injured himself while taking a diving catch against Australia in Sydney. He suffered a spleen laceration with internal bleeding and was hospitalized.
The BCCI’s medical team confirmed that Iyer is still recovering and needs more time before he can return to international cricket.
BCCI thanked doctors in Sydney and India for Iyer’s treatment. The board said he’s stable and will stay in Sydney for further recovery before returning home.

As per reports, Iyer will take at least a month to regain match fitness. His participation in the South Africa ODI series remains doubtful.
