Ahead of the T20 World Cup clash, Pakistan captain Salman Agha has said his team is open to the customary handshake. But will India respond the same way?
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Agha said cricket should be played in the right spirit, while adding that the final call is completely in India’s hands.
The controversy began during the Asia Cup 2025 match, when India declined the customary handshake after the Pahalgam terror attack, triggering major debate.
At the toss, Suryakumar Yadav did not extend a handshake, and after winning the group-stage game, Indian players walked straight back to the dugout.
Pakistan were visibly unhappy, and the Pakistan Cricket Board even raised concerns with the ICC over the role of match referee Andy Pycroft.
With history still fresh and emotions involved, the big question remains — will the two teams exchange handshakes this time or will tensions resurface?
