5.  Matthew Wade

Matthew Wade might be among just a few players to be released by the franchise, before the next year’s auction. Gujarat Titans will certainly look to strengthen their batting, given that their bowling attack is probably among the best in the competition.

4. David Willey

In four outings this season, David Willey has managed to pick up just the one wicket, which is surely not a good record to have on your resume. This probably might be the last time, we are seeing the Englishman play IPL.

3. Aaron Finch

Given that the 50-over World Cup will be conducted next year, Aaron Finch might decide to withdraw his name from the auction pool. The Aussie skipper might prioritize resting himself after a busy summer, especially given the lack of opportunities in IPL.

2. Daryl Mitchell

Given that he has been far away from the limelight this season, Daryl Mitchell will most likely be unsold in the auction next year. However, he could certainly swing things back in his favor, if the Kiwi batter has a decent year in the international arena.

1. Benny Howell

English all-rounder, Benny Howell was picked up in the auction by Punjab Kings. This sends out a message that Benny Howell will be released by the franchise, going into the next season. Moreover, with the likes of Sam Curran and Ben Stokes expected to be included in the auction pool, franchises will likely not go after the Englishman, even if he is included in the auction pool.
