10. Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja’s appointment as the captain of the Chennai Super Kings was a surprise for everyone. The news came just two days before the start of the 2022 IPL season. He never led any team in the tournament before the first match of the season against KKR.

9. Hardik Pandya

Hardik Pandya is the captain of the second new franchise, the Gujarat Titans. The team is filled with star players like Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami and Shubman Gill. The team looks perfect on paper but needs a captain like Hardik who can control things on the ground.

The 31-year-old has played 102 games and scored 2168 runs which include 11 fifty-plus scores. Punjab started the 2022 season with a win in the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore as the season moves ahead and he will be looking to register more wins.

Rahul has been the most consistent batter in the last four seasons of the IPL. The right-hander has crossed the 600-run mark in three out of four seasons. Captain Rahul has a good bunch of players this season and looking at the balance of the side, many believe LSG could be a team to win the tournament.

Another talented wicketkeeper-batter is leading his team this IPL season. Rajasthan Royals have shown a lot of faith in Sanju Samson over the past two years. He has a huge responsibility on his shoulders to take his team on the road to victory. RR is still searching for his second title after winning the inaugural edition in 2008.

5. Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant, a talented wicketkeeper-batter, made an impressive captaincy debut last year. He guided the Delhi Capitals to their second consecutive IPL playoffs and will be eyeing the first title for his side this season.

4. Shreyas Iyer

At the age of 23, he became the youngest captain to lead the Delhi-based franchise in the history of the IPL. Iyer now has enough experience in captaining the IPL team. Under his captaincy, Delhi reached the IPL 2020 finals for the first time in IPL history.

3. Kane Williamson

Coming to his IPL stats, the 31-year-old has led SRH in 34 matches and won 16 games with a 48.52 win percentage. SRH will look to get off to a fresh start after forgetful last year’s poor performance under Williamson.

2. Faf du Plessis

Faf du Plessis, the former skipper of South Africa, has a lot of experience leading different teams. Under his captaincy, the South African team has done well, winning one Test series in New Zealand, one in Australia, and a 3-0 clean sweep against Sri Lanka are some of his most famous stints as captain.

Sharma is leading his side for the 10th consecutive season and will be eyeing to lift the trophy for the sixth time. However, the 2022 season did not start well for his side as they had to face defeat in the first two games against KKR and RR. But he has the experience and knows very well how to get the team back on the winning track.
