The IPL 2026 auction is just a few months away, and franchises are busy deciding which players to retain and which to release.

Here's five players who might be in trouble ahead of the IPL 2026 auction:

1. Deepak Hooda

Chennai Super Kings signed Hooda, but he failed to deliver. In seven matches, he scored just 31 runs at an average of 6.20 and a strike rate of 75.61.

2. Ishant Sharma

Representing Gujarat Titans, the veteran fast bowler also had a poor outing at 37. Ishant picked up only four wickets in seven matches, averaging around 52 with an economy rate of 11.

3. Mohit Sharma

The 37-year-old pacer played for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025 but endured a forgettable season. He took just two wickets in eight matches, with a bowling average of around 129 and an economy rate of 11.

4. Vijay Shankar

Chennai Super Kings roped in Vijay Shankar for ₹1.2 crore, but his performance fell short of expectations. He managed just 118 runs in six matches, with only one half-century to his name.

5. Ajinkya Rahane

Kolkata Knight Riders bought Rahane for ₹1.5 crore and even entrusted him with the captaincy. However, despite his experience and batting skills, the 37-year-old failed to lead the team to the playoffs. KKR finished eighth on the points table.

With franchises shifting focus towards younger players, the road ahead for these five cricketers in the IPL looks increasingly uncertain.
