Former Australia pacer Kane Richardson has announced his retirement from professional cricket at the age of 34, just months before the T20 World Cup.
Richardson represented Australia between 2013 and 2023, playing 25 ODIs and 36 T20Is across formats.
He was a member of the Australian squad that lifted the T20 World Cup in 2021, contributing as a key white-ball bowler.
In ODIs, Richardson took 39 wickets, including a career-best 5/68, while in T20Is he claimed 45 wickets at a strike rate of 16.8.
Richardson featured in every BBL season, playing for Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades, and finished among the tournament’s top wicket-takers with 142 wickets.
Announcing his decision in January 2026, Richardson said he had “given everything” to the game and felt it was the right time to move on from professional cricket.
