Virat Kohli has reclaimed the No.1 spot in the ICC ODI batting rankings, proving once again that form is temporary but class is permanent.
His latest 90+ chase against New Zealand played a key role in the rankings shift, taking his recent ODI scores to a streak filled with 70s, 90s and hundreds.
Kohli has averaged over 60 in ODIs since returning to form this season, stacking multiple match-winning innings instead of relying on just one big knock.
This is Kohli’s first time as ODI No.1 since July 2021, marking a return after nearly three years away from the top spot. His first stint at No.1 dates back to 2013.
Kohli has now spent more than 820 days as the No.1 ODI batter across his career, the most by any Indian in history, surpassing legends from previous eras.
Daryl Mitchell trails by just one point, and Rohit Sharma is close as well, keeping the No.1 battle very tight
