Mitchell Santner has been ruled out for at least a month after suffering a shoulder injury during an IPL 2026 match while fielding.
The New Zealand all-rounder hurt his left shoulder while attempting a catch in the Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings match on April 23.
Medical scans confirmed a grade three shoulder injury, forcing Santner to take a break and begin a recovery and rehab process.
New Zealand Cricket confirmed that Santner will need at least one month of rest and rehabilitation before returning to action.
Santner will miss the Ireland Test and the opening England Test, with his availability for later matches still uncertain.
His absence could affect New Zealand’s balance, as Santner plays a key role with both bat and ball in the team’s lineup.
Santner’s recovery progress will decide his return, with further updates expected before the remaining England Test matches.
