The IPL is just a few days away, but the big question of Dhoni playing all the matches remains a mystery. Fans are asking the same question. But CSK's Ex-star makes a blunt verdict.
Former CSK batter Subramaniam Badrinath believes dropping Dhoni is almost impossible. He says no coach or management member would dare make that call.
"I don't know if it is an administrative decision where [the CEO] said that [Dhoni] is ready to play all matches... Now, will Fleming go and tell Dhoni, 'You don't play this match, we are dropping you'? I don't think Fleming has a chance at all. How will he go and tell Dhoni that he is dropped? I literally feel that it is not possible," said Badrinath.
"I don't think any support staff in the world, be it even Fleming, can tell Dhoni, 'You are an impact player,' or 'You don't play this match.' There is no chance. We can take it that he is going to play all the matches," he added.
In IPL 2025, Dhoni scored 196 runs in 14 matches, mostly batting lower in the order as a finisher. Despite modest numbers, his leadership and experience remain priceless.
Dhoni is expected to be available for the entire IPL 2026 season. But whether he keeps wickets, bats late, or plays another role will be decided by CSK management.
