Pat Cummins has been spotted bowling in the nets as he eyes a comeback ahead of this summer’s Ashes series, reports say.
Cummins will miss the first Ashes Test in Perth starting November 21 as he continues recovery from a lumbar bone stress injury.
Steve Smith will captain the side in Cummins’ absence and remains unbeaten as stand-in skipper with five wins and one draw.
His availability for the second Test in Brisbane will depend on how he performs during a four-week bowling fitness programme.
Cummins has taken 91 wickets in the last four Ashes series, topping the wicket charts in 2017–18, 2019, and 2021–22.
Cummins now focuses on regaining full fitness as Australia hopes to have their skipper back for the rest of the Ashes.
