After South Africa's exit from the T20 World Cup, losing to New Zealand in the semis, De Kock was really furious against the ICC for letting England go home first, while SA and WI are still stranded in India.
“Funny @icc, we have heard nothing! Meanwhile, England are leaving before us somehow? @westindies and @proteasmencsa are just in the dark! Strange how different teams have more pull than others,” he wrote on Instagram story.
Michael Vaughan also made a tweet stating how England can go ahead early while the other sides are still sitting in India.
“So England got knocked out on Thurs, get a charter home today .. West Indies go out last Sunday and are still in Kolkata .. SA in the same position .. That’s where the power is all wrong .. All teams in this situation should be treated the same .. just because you are more powerful at the ICC table shouldn’t count,” Vaughan wrote on X.
Despite the World Cup exit, teams have been left stranded in India and are not able to return home for a very long time. However, ICC has promised that it would arrange a solution to this as soon as possible.
After the incident, this has sparked a new debate about fairness and transparency among teams. Fans and players want ICC to treat everyone equally.
