Ravichandran Ashwin becomes the first male Indian player to join a Big Bash League franchise as Sydney Thunder confirms his signing.
Ashwin will join the Thunder’s camp in early January and boost the club’s push for consecutive BBL finals.
Ashwin retired from international cricket last December with 765 wickets in 287 matches and 537 Test wickets, the seventh-highest in history.
He played 221 IPL games across five franchises, won two titles with CSK, and claimed 187 wickets, ranking fifth all-time in IPL history.
Ashwin is excited about playing in a new league and looks forward to sharing experience with international teammates while contributing to the team’s success.
Ashwin will join teammates like David Warner, Lockie Ferguson, Sam Billings, and Pakistan’s Shadab Khan in the Sydney Thunder squad for BBL 15.
