Sarfaraz Ahmed announces retirement from international cricket

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Sarfaraz Ahmed has announced his retirement from international cricket after a career spanning nearly two decades.

Career numbers

Sarfaraz played 54 Tests, 117 ODIs and 61 T20Is, scoring 6,164 runs with six centuries and 35 half-centuries.

Behind the stumps

The Karachi-born keeper took 315 catches and completed 56 stumpings across formats for Pakistan.

Captaincy achievements

Sarfaraz captained Pakistan in 100 international matches and led the team to the No.1 ranking in T20I cricket.

He guided Pakistan to the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 title, defeating India by 180 runs in the final at The Oval.

Legacy in Pakistan cricket

Sarfaraz also led Pakistan to the U19 World Cup title in 2006 and played a key role in backing future stars like Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi.
