Shreyas Iyer has been discharged from a Sydney hospital after suffering a rib injury and internal bleeding during the 3rd ODI against Australia.
Iyer got injured while diving to take a catch that dismissed Alex Carey. The impact caused a laceration in his spleen, leading to internal bleeding.
He was rushed to the hospital and admitted to the ICU. A BCCI medical team member was present in Sydney to monitor his condition closely.
BCCI confirmed Iyer underwent a minor procedure and that the bleeding was successfully stopped. He is now stable and recovering well.
The batter will stay in Sydney for follow-up consultations before returning home. BCCI thanked the doctors in Sydney and India for his treatment.
Iyer might miss the upcoming home series against South Africa, as his recovery could take longer than initially expected.
