Shreyas Iyer begins recovery phase

Shreyas Iyer, India’s ODI vice-captain, has taken an important step in his comeback after being sidelined since October 25.

What happened to Shreyas Iyer

Iyer suffered a serious injury in Sydney that led to internal bleeding caused by lacerations on his spleen and required ICU care.

Careful return to training

After returning to India, Shreyas followed a strict recovery plan under Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, focusing only on basic movements and light exercises.

First batting session done

On December 24, Shreyas had his first batting session in Mumbai. He spent nearly an hour in the nets and did not feel any discomfort.

Rehab at BCCI Centre of Excellence

Shreyas will now report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, where he will be monitored closely for four to six days.

Return still possible

Although he missed the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the South Africa ODIs, Shreyas could return later in the Vijay Hazare Trophy or during the India vs New Zealand ODI series, depending on medical clearance.
