Indian cricket’s rising star Shubman Gill is likely to receive the Cricketer of the Year award for 2025 from the Board of Control for Cricket in India. Reports suggest the award will be presented at the annual Naman Awards ceremony
Gill had an outstanding year with the bat in international cricket. The 26-year-old scored 1764 runs across formats, finishing as one of India’s most consistent performers
During the same period, Gill also stepped into leadership. He was appointed India’s Test and ODI captain, taking over the role previously held by Rohit Sharma
Under Gill’s captaincy, India drew a tough Test series in England and secured a series win against West Indies. He also contributed with the bat during India’s Champions Trophy triumph

Indian women’s cricket icon Mithali Raj may also receive a lifetime achievement honour, while young domestic star Ayush Mhatre is likely to win the Lala Amarnath Award for his impressive performances
