Sourav Ganguly has urged BCCI selectors to bring back Mohammed Shami in the Indian team, saying the pacer is fit and bowling brilliantly.
Ganguly praised Shami’s recent performances and fitness, stating that the experienced bowler still has the skills to play all three formats for India.
Ganguly said Shami has been in top form in domestic cricket, winning matches for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and proving his match readiness.
Despite his strong form, Shami was not selected for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa. Ganguly believes the decision deserves reconsideration.
The veteran pacer has taken 15 wickets in three Ranji matches this season. Ganguly feels his fitness and skill make him ready for India’s next international series.
Ganguly made it clear — if Shami is fit and performing, he should be part of India’s setup across formats. “There’s no reason why he can’t keep playing,” he said.
