Sanju Samson’s place in India’s T20I team is being debated again after a former opener shared a strong view on his selection.
With several wicketkeepers in the team, people are again questioning if Samson will get regular chances.
Former opener Sadagoppan Ramesh said Samson is the reason Ajit Agarkar became the chief selector, in response to the debate over Samson’s spot in the team.
Ramesh said it’s harsh to drop Samson just three matches after he was Player of the Tournament in the World Cup. He pointed out that Agarkar’s extension as selector came after India’s World Cup win, where Samson played a key role.
Ramesh said Samson played for the team instead of chasing personal milestones in the semifinal and final, and such team players deserve strong support.
With many players competing, the fight for India’s wicketkeeper spot is getting tougher before the next T20I matches.
Will Samson secure his spot in India’s T20I team, or will tough competition make selection harder?
