Sri Lanka – Ramesh Mendis
In four Test matches in 2021, he has 26 Test wickets to his name with a bowling average of 21.53 and has two five-fors and one ten-wicket haul in a Test match. His numbers as a bowler are just par excellence. He had an amazing year and it will be interesting to see how he carries his momentum in the coming years that he got in 2021.
West Indies – Jason Holder
In 2021 he has 22 wickets to his name in eight Test matches with a bowling average of 22.86 and also has a five-wicket haul. With the bat, he has scored 362 runs in 16 innings of eight Tests and has scored two fifties this year. He can score with a good strike rate at the end of the innings and knows the art of batting with the tailenders.
Pakistan – Faheem Ashraf
In eight Tests 0f 2021, Faheem has 10 wickets to his name. He had a good year with the bat scoring 384 runs with an average of 38.40 and has scored two fifties for his team. He has impressed every Pakistani veteran and has age to his side, to have a nice Test career.
Australia- Mitchell Starc
He has played four games in 2021 in which he has 12 wickets to his name. Everyone knows that he is good with the bat as well, he is doing well with the bat as a lower order batter for quite a few times now. In 2021, he also performed with the bat scoring 138 runs in four innings, and has batted with a strike rate of 71.87.
India – Ravi Ashwin
The finger spinner completed 400 Test career wickets in 2021. He was only the fourth Indian bowler to do so. He even surpassed Harbhajan Singh in the list of highest Test wicket-takers of India. He is now on number three after Anil Kumble and Kapil Dev, and he is not much behind Kapil Dev.
England – Joe Root
He has scored a huge 1630 runs in 14 games with an average of 62.69 scoring six centuries in 2021. His batting is getting a lot of praise but he was good with the ball too. He has 14 wickets in 2021 which includes a five-for in India. He was brilliant in the India series.
South Africa – Wiaan Mulder
Wiaan Mulder played four of the six Test matches that RSA played and scored 93 runs and picked eight wickets with a bowling average of 21.87. He was decent in 2021. Mulder is likely to get more opportunities as his country is in a hunt for a pace-bowling all-rounder.
New Zealand – Kyle Jamieson
He played five Test matches this year and scored 105 runs in seven innings with a 30* at a crucial stage when his side needed him the most. With the ball, he picked 27 wickets in 10 innings of the five-Test matches with the bowling average of17.51 and had three five-fors and one ten-wicket haul to his name in 2021.
