Young talent Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is quickly making headlines, and speculation about his call-up to India’s squad for the England tour is growing rapidly.
“I am just looking ahead here, and I know we’re probably getting ahead of ourselves since it’s only the first innings of the IPL. But with a white-ball tour of England coming up in a few months, if I were Indian cricket, I’d take him on that tour,” Vaughan told Cricbuzz.
“I am not saying he necessarily walks straight into the XI because there are players already in the side, but he needs to be brought into the Indian setup and exposed to that environment. If he ends up playing one or two games, fantastic, but the key is to get him on that tour,” Vaughan added.
If selected for England, Sooryavanshi would become the youngest Indian men’s international cricketer, breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Vaughan believes early exposure to the Indian team will benefit him.
While Vaughan supports Sooryavanshi’s inclusion, former cricketer Ashwin cautions against rushing him, saying there’s no need to add pressure, his time will come.
All attention is now on India's next move. If selected, the England tour could be a major turning point in Sooryavanshi’s career.
