India received a blow ahead of the IND vs NZ series as Rishabh Pant was ruled out due to an injury suffered during training.
Pant was batting in the nets during a practice session in Vadodara when he got hit near his rib area while facing throwdowns.
Pant felt immediate discomfort, stopped batting and walked out of the nets with support from the support staff.
After medical checks, it was decided that Pant would not be able to take part in the ODI series, leading to his withdrawal.
The BCCI then named Dhruv Jurel as Pant’s replacement for the series, giving the youngster a chance to step in.
Pant’s absence is a setback for India’s plans, but the team will now move ahead with a new wicketkeeper for the New Zealand ODIs.
