India not only lost the ODI series to England but also set some unwanted records that fans will be disappointed about.
Gurnoor Brar gave up 97 runs in 10 overs and became the third-worst ODI figures by an Indian, behind Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Vinay Kumar.
Gurnoor Brar’s 0/97 in ten overs are now the most expensive ODI figures ever at Lord’s, breaking a 51-year-old record set by Karsan Ghavri, who conceded 83 runs in 11 overs during the 1975 World Cup.
For the first time in an ODI at Lord’s, a team had 100-plus partnerships for both the first and second wickets. Duckett and Bethell put on 192 for the first wicket, and Duckett and Root added 101 for the second.
Duckett and Bethell’s 192-run partnership was the highest for any wicket in an ODI between India and England. The previous best was 186* by Root and Morgan at Leeds in 2018.
England’s 387/3 is now the highest ODI total against India at Lord’s, surpassing the 334/4 from 1975.
