Pakistan’s government allowed the team to travel for the tournament but reportedly instructed them not to play the match against India scheduled on February 15.
As per ICC rules, the team willing to play must reach the venue, complete pre-match formalities, and wait for the match officials’ decision.
India will attend training sessions, press duties, and arrive at the stadium on match day, even if Pakistan do not turn up.
If Pakistan fail to appear for the toss or match, the referee can award a walkover, and India may get two points.
India’s travel to Sri Lanka is required under ICC regulations, and the final outcome of the match will be decided only by match officials on the day.
