Virat Kohli is set to take a key call ahead of the New Zealand ODIs by opting to play another Vijay Hazare Trophy match for Delhi.
Kohli will feature in Delhi vs Railways on January 6 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, confirming his availability for a third Vijay Hazare game.
While the Board of Control for Cricket in India asked centrally contracted players to play at least two games, Kohli chose to play an extra match to stay match-ready.
In his first two outings for Delhi, Kohli impressed with scores of 131 and 77, showing strong rhythm heading into the international season.
During the tournament, Kohli became the fastest batter to reach 16,000 List A runs, achieving the feat in just 330 innings.
India’s ODI squad assembles in Vadodara by January 8, with the three-match series against New Zealand starting on January 11, while senior players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are set to be rested.
