'We'll be increasing security around the players' - David White after Jofra Archer racial abuse incident

England lost the 1st game of the two-match series against New Zealand by a big margin of an innings and 65 runs. But, one thing that hogged the spotlight was the “Jofra Archer’s racial abuse” incident that happened when he was batting with Sam Curran. And, now New Zealand Cricket’s chief executive David White has come with some proper measures ahead of the 2nd Test to avoid such instances.

New Zealand defeated visitors with sheer dominance. The record-breaking partnership between BJ Watling and Mitchell Santner for the sixth wicket helped the home side register a convincing win. Although they were lagging at one stage in the game against England, the Kiwis bounce back to clinch the first Test.

David White wants “self-policing” is required from the Kiwis

David White, the New Zealand Cricket chief said that they have increased the security of the players ahead of the 2nd Test that is scheduled to be played at Seddon Park in Hamilton. He also added that the ground will be under strong supervision. Also, the former urged the citizens of his country to stay away from racist behaviour during the 2nd Test.

“We’ll be increasing security around the areas where the players are, in particular when they’re coming on and off the field, but it’s quite difficult when players are on the boundary,” NZC chief said as quoted by India Today.

He feels that there is a requirement of self-policing and people should take a stance against such behaviour which is not acceptable in society. “I’d like to think there’s a bit of self-policing going on as well, we shouldn’t be accepting this kind of behaviour in our society,” he added.

Earlier, Kane Williamson had urged for an apology on the behalf of the Kiwis from Jofra Archer and regarded it is a horrific instance that took place in a multicultural country. And, according to him, such things should come to an end with zero tolerance towards it.

“I can only apologise on behalf of Kiwis to Jofra, not only from our team and how we look to conduct ourselves, but what we expect of Kiwis in general. It’s a horrific thing. In a country, and a setting where it is very much multi-cultural, it’s something we need to put to bed quickly and hope nothing like that ever happens again. It certainly won’t if there’s any influence we can have on it,” Williamson said.
