The IPL 2021 is on in India with full zeal and enthusiasm and is turning out to be the only source of entertainment while the nation is in the middle of a pandemic. Though players and franchises are giving up their best to keep the fans entertained, several have admitted how the situation of the country has affected them mentally. As per the reports, players do talk about the rising no of cases in the country every day and it instills them with the feeling of anxiety and fear.

Some players and staff tested positive for COVID-19 before the season began but things turned up smooth thereafter. The fact that players are travelling from one place to the other for playing has triggered panic among them. Even inside the bio-bubble, the players have to undergo tests and all regularly to keep a regular check on health.

“Who wants to begin a day with an antigen test and an RTPCR? Or undergo a swab test every second day? That’s what everybody inside the bubble is going through, wondering if masks are on, hands have been washed, if there’s anybody around who doesn’t belong in the bubble, or proactively enquiring if anybody’s woken up with a fever or cough every morning. Fear has gripped us all,” a source said as quoted by the Times of India.

It’s just a job that we are doing: IPL sources

Many players even accepted openly that it is just a ‘job’ that they are doing while being away from their families While some players are travelling with their families, some wives, parents, and kids are still back home. Players stated that had it not been IPL, they would have been simply sitting with their families at home at the present moment.

“We’re human too. It’s not like we’re unaware of what’s happening around us. It’s just a job that we’re doing because if that wasn’t the case, we knew where we would be – at our homes, with our families,” the sources inside the bio-bubble added.
