South Africa women’s cricket team would be heading to the Caribbean Islands later this month for a white-ball series against West Indies women. Three T20Is and five ODIs will be played in this tour between August 31 and September 19. This series is indeed a great preparation chance for West Indies ahead of the ICC Women’s World Cup Qualifiers later in the year.

West Indies indeed have match practice on their side as they recently hosted Pakistan in a white-ball series. The Caribbean whitewashed the visitors 3-0 in the T20I leg before clinching the ODI series 4-1. On the other hand, South Africa, having already secured a World Cup berth, would like to get an overseas victory. Notably, the Proteas side hasn’t played any cricket since their successful tour of India in March. South Africa bagged the ODI series 4-1 before walking away with a 3-0 triumph in the T20I series.

With both teams having successful previous campaigns, one can expect a close contest in the upcoming series. Speaking of the series, West Indies Courtney Walsh was delighted with West Indies hosting yet another series.

We are at a crucial juncture as we prepare for this big event: West Indies coach Courtney Walsh

“We are delighted to have more cricket on the horizon as this will be a vital part of our preparations for the ICC World Cup Qualifiers. We are at a crucial juncture as we prepare for this big event and again, we want to thank CWI for organizing this camp, the T20Is and the CG Insurance ODI Series to get the girls up to speed,” Courtney Walsh, the head coach, said in a statement.

“We were fantastic against Pakistan last month and we want to bring that winning momentum into this series of matches as well. We are going in the right direction, with the way we want. There is a lot to play for and we will be up for the challenge,” he added.

Walsh’s statement clearly depicts that the Caribbean camp is high on confidence and is raring to register yet another series win. However, one must not forget that Team South Africa hasn’t done much wrong either lately. Hence, complacency could cost Stafanie Taylor and her team. On the other hand, the visitors would rely on the likes of Lizelle Lee, Mignon du Preez and Marizanne Kapp.
