Preview

Australia had a forgettable outing in the opening T20I of the five-match series against the West Indies. After bowling exceptionally, the visitors succumbed to a horrendous batting collapse where they lost six wickets for 19 runs.

Mitchell Marsh scored a fifty, but his valiant efforts went in vain. The second game is scheduled to take place on Saturday in St Lucia itself and the Aussies need a win to make a comeback.

The Caribbean team, meanwhile, stood up to the task in the absence of Kieron Pollard, who missed the game due to a niggle. Another exciting match seems to be on the cards.

Pitch Report

The pitch in St Lucia was an excellent one for batting as the Aussies notched 60 runs in the powerplay. However, Obed McCoy, Hayden Walsh Jr, and Josh Hazlewood showed that bowling wasn’t all that tough.

Although the chasing team lost the previous game, batting second should be the way forward. There will be intermittent clouds during game-time, but with no chances of rain.

Avg score:  157 (14 T20Is in St Lucia)

Record of chasing teams: Won – 8, Lost – 6, N/R – 0

Probable best batsman of the match

Matthew Wade– Australia

Matthew Wade played brilliantly in the opening match of the series. He scored 33 runs off a mere 14 balls with one four and three sixes. The fact that he played at a strike rate of 235.71 showed his stupendous ability with the bat in hand.

But he got out to Andre Russell against the run of play. In the second match, the left-hander would be looking to go further and get a half-century.

Probable best bowler of the match

Hayden Walsh Jr– West Indies

Hayden Walsh Jr hasn’t gotten a lot of matches to play of late. But when he got a chance, he grabbed it with both hands. He picked up three wickets of Mitchell Marsh, Daniel Christian, and Mitchell Starc.

The tweaker was able to put the brakes on the scoring in the middle-overs. Moreover, he conceded only 23 runs from the four overs he bowled at an excellent economy rate of 5.80.

Today’s match prediction: Australia to win the match.
