David Warner once again made his bat talk when it mattered the most during Match 50 of IPL 2022 between the Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. After Delhi were asked to bat first by SRH skipper Kane Williamson, Warner took care of the DC innings with some much-needed support from Rovman Powell as well. It must be noted that Warner and SRH parted ways last year on a sour note and the southpaw didn’t miss out on making a mark against his former franchise.

Warner might not have been able to score a well-deserved century but, his blistering knock was just more than good enough to ensure that the Capitals could go on to post a total in excess of 200 which seemed to be a far cry during the initial half of the first innings. He accelerated in the middle and slog overs by showing a fearless intent.

Warner watched his partners walking back to the dugout from the non-strikers’ end. First, it was Mandeep Singh for a duck and then his Australian teammate Mitchell Marsh for 10. He was then involved in a 48-run stand with skipper Rishabh Pant before the latter lost his wicket attempting a big shot after getting well set in the middle.

He was then joined by the Caribbean sensation Rovman Powell at the crease and the duo ensured that there were no further hiccups as they toyed around with the lethal Hyderabad bowling line-up. The onslaught was such that not even speedster Umran Malik could do anything about it as he failed to execute his lightning-fast yorkers perfectly.

Both Warner and Powell added an unbeaten 122-run stand for the fourth wicket. Warner did breach the 90-run mark but, since the last over was played completely by Rovman, he was deprived of a chance to reach three figures which could have been his fifth one in the IPL. David Warner remained unbeaten on 92 runs from 58 deliveries while Rovman Powell was not out on a 35-ball 67 which propelled DC to 207/3 in their allotted 20 overs.

Meanwhile, let’s look at how Twitter reacted to David Warner’s special knock:
